About the Authors

Lead author:  Daniel Bonnici

Daniel Bonnici currently teaches VETiS carpentry at  Bayside Secondary College in Victoria. Prior to this he was employed at Victoria University (TAFE), where he was the VET in schools’ (VETiS) coordinator for Construction and Carpentry. Daniel currently chairs the Victorian Carpentry Teachers’ Network and he has contributed to the Victorian Certificate II in Building and Construction for the past 15 years as a subject matter expert. In 2017 Daniel was appointed to the carpentry Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to contribute to the redevelopment of the Cert I and II in Construction and the CPC Cert III in Carpentry. Daniel has been rewarded on multiple occasions with awards for his work in the Vet in Schools Carpentry area.

Co-author Alister Ford

Alister Ford is an experienced carpenter who ran his own business for 15 years. In 2002 Alister commenced teaching carpentry Certificate II and III part time at the University of Ballarat TAFE division while still running his own business. In 2005 he then commenced full-time teaching in carpentry at the UB TAFE and also held the position of the Program Coordinator for the Building & Construction department. In 2010 Alister transferred his employment to TAFE Gippsland to teach Certificate II and III in Carpentry.

Michael Hick

Michael Hick is an experienced carpenter and teacher, currently teaching at Secondary College. He is very passionate about his trade and teaching and is still very active in the industry through his family stair business.
