Interactive digital tools for Economics

SmartBook

SmartBook is an adaptive learning experience that helps students study more effectively by assessing their comprehension of the material and guiding them to resources until they understand. SmartBook is proven to help raise students grades and encourages mastery and long-term retention. Robust reporting features enable you to track student progress and help guide teaching strategies for a more dynamic class experience.

Application Based Activities

Application-Based Activities (ABAs) are immersive, online simulations that put students in the role of everyday economists. Students practice economic thinking and problem-solving and see the implications of their decisions as they move through scenarios. ABAs allow students to examine shifts of demand and supply, evaluate the effectiveness of productivity measures, and more.

Interactive Graphs

Interactive graphs help students see the relevance of the subject matter by providing visual displays of real data for students to manipulate. All graphs are accompanied by assessment questions to help guide students through the experience of interpreting and analysing the graphs and data.

Algorithmic & Static Exercises

Algorithmic exercises are auto-graded exercises using different numeric values each time a problem is given to the student. This allows students to practice working a problem several times and deters cheating because each student receives a slightly different version of the problem and correct answer. Static versions are also available so that you can have a set of exercises where students would get the same numbers.

Math Preparedness

Math Prep assignments and videos provide an important refresher on prerequisite basic maths topics necessary to be successful in the course.

Videos

Assignable in Connect for Economics, videos guide students through the most difficult course topics, featuring mini lectures to break down complicated topics into digestible chunks, animations and graphs.

Narrated PowerPoints

Narrated versions of the student PPTs are assignable by chapter in Connect. The PPTs outline the chapter and are useful to replace the lecture portion of a class, for online courses, or to provide additional support for students.
