ALEKS enlists a three-pronged approach of Placement, Preparation and Learning (PPL), which offers higher education institutions a complete solution for mathematics placement, testing and in class readiness. By combining a highly accurate, research-based placement assessment with personalised learning resources, ALEKS PPL places students in the right course and equips them with tools to refresh their mathematics knowledge.
Knowledge Assessment
With personalised assessment that covers 314 topics in 30 questions or fewer ALEKS PPL uncovers what each student already understands to ascertain what they are ready to learn next. Completed in approximately 90 minutes, the initial assessment places students into the appropriate course for their knowledge.
Math Review & Refresh
ALEKS PPL, guides students seamlessly from the assessment test to the Preparation and Learning Mode, offering a personalised study path to refresh their skills and achieve mastery. On average, students who spend at least 8 hours reviewing key concepts will improve their course placement by at least one level.
Data & Analytics
Comprehensive reports provide insight into your students and their mathematics knowledge providing instructors with the critical data you need to design courses that meet the needs of students and the degree program. This approach is proven to provide targeted intervention at the right time to improve student retention and outcomes.
Assessment Integrity
ALEKS PPL can be implemented on and off-campus, with remote supervision options to ensure the integrity of the program. McGraw Hill partners with professional online agents who provide institutions with a variety of data integrity options including authentication, live proctors and more.

More than just a placement testing solution, ALEKS PPL directs students to the key content they need to enhance their mathematics knowledge. After their initial assessment, the system guides their individual study programs via personalised learning modules, before they retake the assessment.
