The first edition of the Guide to the Essentials in Emergency Medicine co-edited by two prominent emergency physicians Associate Professors Shirley Ooi and Peter Manning with a combined total of 64 years of Emergency Medicine practice between them was first published in Singapore in 2004. This book focuses on the practical management of the most life-threatening and common conditions encountered by emergency physicians. It is designed to offer a balanced viewpoint advocating the tenets of evidence-based medicine.  This second edition preserves several of its predecessor’s hallmark features.
