Assessment and care planning are crucial competencies in mental health nursing and healthcare. This book provides an in-depth focus on how to conduct effective assessments and the planning of care, supported by a comprehensive range of research, evidence, and literature from a variety of sources.
Part one of the book explores the core aspects of assessment, such as effective communication skills, co-production and collaborative-working with a recovery-focused approach, partnership working, interventions, and the importance of relapse prevention. Part two uses a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) model to consider assessment under four categories: the person’s physical health, behaviour, thoughts, and feelings.
